An Ethical consideration of the Possibilities and Risks of Data-Driven Healthcare: Focusing on the issue of protecting ¡®individuality¡¯ as a requirement for happiness

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the possibilities and risks of Data-Driven Healthcare in relation to the issue of protecting individuality. Individuality is a concept established by modern philosophers who have newly reflected on human nature, and is a philosophical and ethical concept that is still considered important today. Until now, this has been recognized for its value in that it is a decisive factor in achieving personal happiness and a source of social development. Meanwhile, Data-Driven Healthcare refers to a future medical system applied with advanced data technology that encompasses artificial intelligence, big data, networks, the Internet of Things, and cloud computing. Just as the advance and spread of science and technology has changed human physical and mental nature and ability in a variety of ways, whether intended or not by humans, advanced Data-Driven Healthcare can improve human health while also significantly changing conditions and ways of human life. If so, can such a medical system preserve the value of individuality pursued as a very important thing in modern and contemporary culture? To solve this question, this paper (1) analyzes and organizes the characteristics of the future medical system, which can be called Data-Driven Healthcare. (2) It predicts and presents specific personal and social changes that Data-Driven Healthcare can bring. (3) It accounts for the background of the emergence of the concept of individuality, and discusses the importance and value of this concept from the perspective of J. S. Mill. In addition to, it examines how human individuality can be strengthened or weakened in the changed life conditions and ways with Data-Driven Healthcare.
